Sighting counts track reporting infrastructure — hotlines, databases, language, and a culture where reporting is thinkable. More phones and more channels mean more reports, everywhere.
Other governments keep official files: France's GEIPAN (state-run, within the space agency), the U.K. MoD's released archives, Chile's CEFAA, and Belgium's uniquely transparent 1990 investigation.
The data reflects who's listening. Correct for that, and the phenomenon — whatever it is — reports from everywhere.
Ask the databases and the answer is emphatic: the United States reports more UAP than anywhere on Earth. The National UFO Reporting Center has logged American sightings by the tens of thousands; no other country's public tally is close.
Read that number carefully. The U.S. has the world's densest reporting infrastructure — civilian hotlines, searchable databases, a press that covers the topic, and now a Pentagon office required by law to take military reports. Sightings scale with listening. France is instructive: GEIPAN, the state UAP office inside the French space agency, has investigated thousands of cases since 1977 — and classifies a small stubborn percentage as unidentified after full investigation, the same shape of residue the American files show.
Two of the strongest cases in our files are not American at all: a Belgian wave investigated openly by that country's air force, and an English forest where a U.S. deputy base commander made eighteen minutes of tape. The phenomenon doesn't check passports; the databases do.
